Silver Dime Designs

Your order may contain any of the following silver dime types: Barber, Mercury (Winged Cap Liberty), and Roosevelt, among others. Maybe some contemporary proof dimes as well.

Adolph A. Weinman's design on the obverse of this side differs greatly from the image of Lady Liberty that we are accustomed to seeing. She's got a pileus cap on here. Here, her short, wavy hair flows out a little. This, along with Liberty's more masculine appearance, greatly approximates Mercury. Collectors dubbed it the "Mercury dime" for this reason. Over her head, the word "LIBERTY" "IN GOD WE TRUST" is written beneath her chin. The year of issue is shown underneath the picture.

A second, extremely Roman image—a fasces—is seen on the reverse. An ax and a bundle of sticks tied together with leather is called a fasces. It represents authority and strength. Romans knew this well since their leaders carried them. "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" is written around the top of the picture. ONE DIME is written beneath the picture.

Silver Dime Composition of US Mint

Ten percent copper and ninety percent silver make up each dime. The U.S. struck the bullion that was part of your purchase. Most of the time, before silver content was completely taken out of circulation, before 1965.

The coins are also perfect for anyone starting a barter stash because of this worn quality. The truth is that if the federal government continues to erode the confidence that underpins our currency by borrowing and spending without limit, the unbacked, debased U.S. dollar will not survive. It's a good idea to be ready for the day when consumer confidence evaporates and businesses stop taking American dollars as payment. The silver Mercury dimes are easy to exchange for minor products like bread because of their tiny denomination and recognizability.

You have the chance to bring ten of these antique coins home with you. Depending on the amount of stock on hand, each individual coin has an issue date between 1916 and 1945. The coin has a $1 face value, but its true value is much higher due to its silver content and collectibility. Obtain yours right now.
